IT WAS a clarifying moment. Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas was asked if he had strengthened anti-Western hawks in Iran when he addressed an open letter on March 9th to its government, signed by 46 fellow-Republican senators. The letter warns that any nuclear deal Iran reaches with Barack Obama may be rewritten by Congress or revoked by the next president with a “stroke of a pen”.
