South Africans woke up on Thursday to the news that Jacob Zuma is no longer president. And amid the euphoria of his departure, the realisation that his successor Cyril Ramaphosa has a hard road ahead.
Mr Zuma resigned on live television late on Wednesday once it became clear that his party, the African National Congress (ANC), was ready to remove him. Acting president Ramaphosa could be designated the country's new leader in a parliament vote as early as Thursday afternoon.
