Theresa May wants to leave the EU's common foreign and security policy, but would be prepared to align Britain with European data protection rules to secure a new security treaty.
“There is no reason why we should not agree distinct agreements for our foreign and defence policy cooperation in the time-limited implementation period”, the British prime minister said at the Munich security conference on Saturday. “The key aspects of our future partnership in this area will already be effective from 2019.
