Waking a Weary Superpower

The United States is arguably more politically polarized and wearier of maintaining the global security system than at any time since the end of the Cold War.  National debt stands at a whopping $34 trillion, inflation lingers, the southern border is uncontrolled, and a poll last fall showed that 78 percent of Americans thought the country was moving in the wrong direction.
