Vietnam’s President Vo Van Thuong Resigns After A Year In Office

Vietnam’s President Vo Van Thuong has resigned after holding the position for just over a year, state media reported on Wednesday. The ruling Communist party has accepted his resignation, state media said. Thuong is the second president to resign in 14 months, in political moves that have caused concerns for investors in Vietnam. The presidency is the second most powerful position in Vietnam after the Communist party’s secretary-general.
