Would Putin Attack NATO?

A US intelligence assessment reported by the Wall Street Journal on 6 August describes a range of ways Putin might test NATO between this autumn and 2029 — cyberattacks, deniable proxies, and at the far end a small-scale ground incursion. The incursion is the option Moscow has the least reason to choose. Regular troops crossing a border answer the attribution question the moment it is asked, spending the deniability that two years of pressure has been built on.
