Democratic societies invariably struggle with the allocation of finite resources. Canada is no exception. Understandably, democracies tend to opt for much needed increased spending on education, healthcare, housing and jobs. Unfortunately, all these seminal public goods are dependent on security and the protection of sovereignty.
