This is the first year that China has cracked SIPRI's top five, displacing the United Kingdom with five percent of the global arms market. China's exports rose by 162 percent from 2003-2007 and 2008-2012, thanks in part to sales to Pakistan. Indeed, according to Dr Paul Holtom, Director of the SIPRI Arms Transfers Programme, "China is establishing itself as a significant arms supplier to a growing number of important recipient states." China is also a major weapons importer -- the second largest in the world, behind India. (AP Photo)
