What's Next for Hillary Clinton?

By RCP Editor David Russell When Hillary Clinton stepped down as secretary of state, it was the first time since January 10, 1983, that neither she nor her husband held a public office. (As president-elect, Bill Clinton resigned the Arkansas governorship in December 1992, before becoming president the following month.) Already, political observers are chattering about the possibility of Clinton running for president in 2016. In recent decades, serving as secretary of state has been a capstone to one's career in public service. Former secretaries have gone into retirement and made money as corporate board members and conference speakers. Some spend time in academia. Clinton could join her husband in running the Clinton Foundation and continue to work on her favorite causes. Or, she could choose one of the many paths that her 66 predecessors have taken after serving as secretary of state. Here are ten career possibilities. (AP Photo)
